Admissions Requirements

Applicants are required to be prospective graduates of a regionally or nationally accredited high school or an approved home school program.

A minimum of 18 academic units distributed as follows is required:

• English – 4 Units
• Foreign Language – 2 Units
• Mathematics, College Preparatory – 3 Units
• Science – 3 Units
• History – 2 Units
• Electives – 4 Units

If applying with a GED, a score of 145 or higher on the GED® is needed (Performance Level 2: Pass/High School Equivalency). Older GED scores will be reviewed individually.

The Admissions Committee may accept a student who lacks one or more of the stated requirements, but whose high school record and standardized testing show academic ability.

Nursing Admission Requirements

Applicants entering the university as a first-year student who are interested in the nursing major have additional requirements (in addition to the admission requirements listed above) to meet in order to be considered a direct-entry nursing major student.

Admission Policy for Direct-Entry & Transfer Nursing Students

Every year, students transfer to Notre Dame for our welcoming community and the many programs that enable them to complete their degrees in a timely manner.

Transfer students are an integral part of the NDMU community – academics, sports, clubs, campus life etc. Transfer students enrich the NDMU community with their diverse experiences and perspectives. Our team is here to help you navigate the transfer process.

Application Checklist

Transfer students applying to Notre Dame are asked to submit the following documents for consideration:

• Completed Application
• Official high school transcript (Not required for students with at least 30 hours of transferable college credits; If applying with a GED, a score of 145 or higher on the GED® is needed (Performance Level 2: Pass/High School Equivalency). Older GED scores will be reviewed individually.)
• Official college transcripts from all academic institutions previously attended

Note: For students interested in admissions to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, please review the additional admissions criteria and process for acceptance to the nursing program.

International Student Application Deadlines

First-Year and Transfer international undergraduate applicants should complete all application requirements by the dates listed below:

• Fall semester: April 1
• Spring semester: November 1

International Student Application Requirements

IMPORTANT:
Your application will not be reviewed unless all the steps below are completed by the dates specified above.

• Use the Common Application. https://www.commonapp.org
• If English is not your native language, submit the official results/scores from one of the following proficiency tests. These testing scores must come directly from testing site to Processing@ndm.edu
  • TOEFL iBT score of 80 or greater
  • IELTS score of 6.5 or greater
  • DUOLINGO score of 110 or greater: https://englishtest.duolingo.com/applicants
  • SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score of 500 or greater (REQUIRED for all first-year applicants interested in Nursing)
  • Proof of successful completion of an English composition course at a U.S.-accredited college or university (transfer students only)
• Submit an original, personal essay (500 words). Choose from one of the following prompts:
  • Describe your hometown;
  • Describe your educational experiences;
  • Describe how a favorite teacher, counselor, or coach had a positive impact on you;
  • Tell us about an extra-curricular activity that you listed on your application.
• Submit a course-by-course evaluation of transcripts for all high schools (please send grades with the coursework for the last four years of high school) and universities abroad performed by a NACES member provider. For evaluation services, view our transcript evaluation portal.

Requirements for F-1 Student I-20 Processing

Upon acceptance to the university, international students must prove eligibility for maintaining visa status while enrolled. Students who plan to obtain an F-1 Visa must complete a Form I-20 upon confirmation of the following criteria:

• Make your $300 enrollment deposit on your Admissions Portal.
• Complete an NDMU International Student Intake Form providing necessary information for the creation of an I-20.
• Complete an NDMU International Student Financial Willingness Statement.
• Complete an NDMU International Student Documentation Submission Form.
• Provide a color copy of your current unexpired Passport.
• Provide an official document signed by a banking official indicating the current amount of funds to be used for your cost of attendance at NDMU. All figures should be in U.S. dollars. For the current cost of attendance, please use the following link to our Tuition and Fees page.

Federal and state financial aid is not available to international students. However, limited institutional scholarships are available as well as external scholarships and private/alternative student loans.

IMPORTANT:
Once enrolled, undergraduate students in the United States on an F-1 visa must remain a full-time student by taking a minimum of 12 credits per semester each year.
