Notre Dame of Maryland University (NDMU) accepts a completed Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) and/or AAT degree from a regionally accredited institution as fulfilling the general education requirements for its undergraduate programs. However, transfer students are required to complete one mission-focused course at NDMU, outside of their major, from the approved list in the following categories:
This policy applies to all students transferring to NDMU with an earned AA, AS, and/or AAT degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Key Provisions
Accreditation Requirements
The AA or AS degree must be awarded by a regionally accredited community college within the State of Maryland.
Departmental Review
Exclusions
Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees and other career/technical-focused degrees are not covered under this policy. Individual courses from these excluded degree programs may still be reviewed for potential transfer credit.
We strongly encourage transfer students to apply early to ensure the best selection of classes and to obtain financial aid. Applications are completed on a rolling basis year-round, however, we encourage all students to apply and be accepted at least a month before the start of each semester, especially if they plan to secure financial aid.
Transfer students applying to Notre Dame are asked to submit the following documents for consideration:
Note: For students interested in admissions to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, please review the additional admissions criteria and process for acceptance to the nursing program.
Financial aid is available to all students. A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required for consideration of assistance from the federal/state government, external companies/agencies and Notre Dame institutional need-based grants.
Schedule a visit to meet with an admissions counselor to learn more about transferring credits and the transfer admissions process. Campus tours, class visits and appointments with academic departments are also available.
