NDMU Hosts Dedication Ceremony for Sr. Sharon Slear Center for Service, Social Justice & Community Engagement
Notre Dame of Maryland University students, faculty, staff, and community supporters gathered inside MBK Lobby on Thursday, August 31, as NDMU's Office of Service & Community Engagement was officially rededicated as the Sister Sharon Slear Center for Service, Social Justice, and Community Engagement. A Notre Dame graduate who was first appointed to the faculty in 1988, Sister Sharon now serves as Special Projects Assistant to the President after retiring from her role as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs following the 2021-22 academic year. As part of NDMU's Welcome Week festivities, students gathered in Doyle Formal on Thursday, August 31 to learn how to make sushi with President Marylou Yam. Thanks to Dr. Yam and members of our SAGE Dining Services team for their assistance in making the evening a success for everyone in attendance!

Professor Ryan Schaaf Featured in National Catholic Review Article
Ryan Schaaf, Associate Professor of Educational Technology in the School of Education, was featured in a recent National Catholic Review Article titled "Artificial Intelligence Is Making Research Faster; Can It Also Help Make Catholic Colleges More Catholic?" In the article, Schaaf discusses the growth of artificial intelligence, and its opportunity to become a positive companion for people in both their faith and their everyday lives.

Faculty and Staff Discount Available for Alumnae and Alumni Weekend Events
The Alumnae and Alumni Engagement Office is extending a special discount for faculty and staff to attend keystone events during Alumnae and Alumni Weekend as a way to show gratitude for all that they do. To receive the discount, faculty and staff must use the unique link for paid events by Sunday, September 17. Below are the two events that include the faculty and staff discount. There are also five other free receptions and events open to faculty and staff. Please register for these events if you plan on attending. Please note that there is a required $5 registration fee for each faculty or staff member attending any event during the weekend.
