Student Delegation Travels to Washington D.C. for Model OAS Conference
Five Notre Dame of Maryland University students recently participated in the annual Washington Model General Assembly of the Organization of American States (WMOAS), a unique opportunity which connected them with fellow students from all regions of the Western hemisphere.
NDMU’s delegation represented Brazil at the conference, which serves as a simulation of the OAS General Assembly. Students engage in diplomatic efforts throughout the four-day event, debating issues of peace, security, development, and human rights in the region. All five Proposed Draft Resolutions (PDRs) submitted by Lily Emami ’22, Jolisse Gray ’22, Alycia Hancock ’23, Nicol Rodriguez ’22 and Amy Seck ’24 were ultimately approved by their respective committees.
School of Education Shares Research on National Stage at AERA Conference
NDMU’s School of Education was featured at the 2022 American Educational Research Association’s annual meeting, which was held virtually and on-site in San Diego from April 21-26. Thirteen faculty, alumnae and students presented research on a variety of topics during the six-day renowned conference, which typically features over 2,600 sessions and 15,000 attendees.
Education Grad Awarded $30,000 from CIA to Support STEAM Education at Local School
A graduate of NDMU’s Leadership in Teaching: STEM master’s program was the recent recipient of a $30,000 award sponsored by the Central Intelligence Agency to promote STEAM education at his school in Northeast Baltimore.
Scott Hartman M’21, who has spent the past 10 years teaching science at Hamilton Elementary/Middle School, earned the funding through the CIA’s Mission Possible – Makerspace Nation program. The $30,000 top prize was distributed to one school each in the cities of Baltimore, Richmond and Washington DC.
International Award for NDMU Publication Honors Creative Excellence
NDMU’s annual magazine, Universitas, won a second international award for outstanding publication design in one of the world’s oldest and largest creative competitions recognizing professional excellence. Universitas 2020, which celebrates the University’s accomplishments and donors, received a 2022 Gold Hermes Creative Award in the annual report category. In fall 2021, the same issue won a Silver honors in the NYX Marcom Awards.
Four Staff Members Graduate from Building Bridges Program
Congratulations to NDMU staff members (listed from left to right in the above photo) Marisa Morris '09, Leisalle Lawrence, Macey Cozzolino and David Kiefaber, who graduated this month from Building Bridges Across Maryland, a unique training, networking and development program for support staff at area colleges and universities. Participation in the program is by invitation only and is limited to five individuals from each institution.

Join the Art Therapy department for their final Art Hive of the academic year! The NDMU Art Hive is space to indulge in a morning of creative exploration, self-directed learning, and skill sharing. You are invited to join in the event using whatever creative materials and process you wish, as is always the way in an Art Hive! Feel free to bring materials for yourself, to share, or enjoy the variety of materials and scrap that we will have on hand!
You need not be a member of the NDMU community to join. The Art Hive is FREE and all/all ages are welcome! No pre-registration required.
