NDMU Students Can Access Pathways to Medical and Dental Careers with New Partnership
Lake Erie College Osteopathic Medicine Offers NDMU Students Two Early Assurance Programs for Medical and Dental School
BALTIMORE, Md. – Notre Dame of Maryland University (NDMU) and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) have partnered to create new pathways for NDMU undergraduate students pursuing careers in medicine and dentistry. The agreements provide eligible NDMU students with the opportunity to interview with LECOM early in their undergraduate education and, if successful, receive provisional acceptance to either LECOM’s Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) program.
The Early Assurance Programs (EAPs) expand opportunities for NDMU students interested in two highly competitive health professions while providing a structured pathway from their undergraduate education to professional school.
Students may interview with LECOM before enrolling at NDMU or within their first three years of undergraduate study. Students who successfully complete the interview process will be offered provisional acceptance to their respective LECOM program. Upon completing their NDMU degree and meeting LECOM’s criteria for final acceptance, students will begin their professional education at LECOM.

We are excited to help more NDMU students take the next step toward careers in medicine and dentistry.”
NDMU undergraduate students pursuing provisional acceptance to LECOM’s Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program must complete at least 60 credit hours at NDMU while enrolled full time. After completing their bachelor’s degree and meeting LECOM’s final acceptance requirements, students will begin their medical education at LECOM and its associated clinical training sites. Students may enroll at a LECOM campus of their choice, dependent upon space availability.
Undergraduate students pursuing provisional acceptance for LECOM’s Doctor of Dental Medicine program must complete their NDMU bachelor’s degree requirements, including at least 60 credit hours at NDMU. The students can then complete their dental education and clinical training at LECOM’s Bradenton, Florida, campus.
While students in NDMU’s biology, chemistry and health science are natural fits for the pathway programs, students in any major who complete the required coursework are eligible to participate. The partnership gives students interested in medicine or dentistry an opportunity to begin planning for their professional careers early in their undergraduate experience.
