Biography
Tina Bloom, PhD, MPH, RN, is Professor and the Francis K. Pitts ’96 Endowed Chair for Leadership in Women’s and Children’s Health in the School of Nursing at Notre Dame of Maryland University. She also serves as Chair of the University Institutional Review Board. Her career bridges nursing, public health, violence prevention, research ethics, and education.
For more than two decades, Dr. Bloom’s scholarship has focused on intimate partner and gender-based violence, with particular emphasis on technology-supported safety planning and decision support, risk assessment, culturally adapted interventions, and the health care response to violence. Her work has included interdisciplinary and international collaborations, particularly in Thailand, as well as research with adolescents, pregnant and parenting women, rural communities, immigrant populations, and other groups whose needs are often poorly served by traditional systems. She is a Fulbright U.S. Scholar and has contributed as an investigator, mentor, and scientific advisor to federally and internationally funded research.
Dr. Bloom is also deeply committed to research mentorship and student learning. Her emerging work examines stress mindset and brief stress interventions, trauma-informed educational approaches, and practical strategies to support nursing students’ well-being, learning, and academic success.
