School of Nursing Graduates Achieve Excellent Pass Rate for National Licensure Exam
NDMU School of Nursing undergraduates achieved an outstanding 94.81 percent first-time pass rate on the National Council of Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses during the 2024 fiscal year, reinforcing the University’s position as a national leader in preparing students to excel in the profession. Notre Dame’s 94.81 percent pass rate was among the highest in the School of Nursing’s history, and it also coincides with a dramatic increase in the number of students enrolled in the University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Accelerated 2nd Degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) programs. The number of Notre Dame students sitting for the NCLEX-RN exam has risen by 125 percent since the first ABSN cohort graduated in 2020. A new partnership between the School of Education and the American Chinese Educational Exchange (ACCE) is providing students from China with the opportunity to attend NDMU and earn their master’s degree and teaching certification through an accelerated 10-month program.
Notre Dame welcomed its first cohort of 10 Chinese students to campus last month. They will be earning their Master of Arts in Teaching and teaching certification in both teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) and special education while completing the Graduate Education Internship (GEI) program.

Art Therapy Celebrates Latest Master's Graduates at Thesis Colloquium
Congratulations to our latest art therapy master’s graduates, who delivered their thesis colloquium presentations at a celebratory event in Fourier Hall on Monday! They become the fifth cohort to complete Maryland’s only graduate program preparing students to become professional art therapists.

A 2015 graduate from NDMU’s School of Arts, Sciences and Business was selected as a recipient of The Daily Record’s 2024 Leading Women Under 40 award in recognition of her professional accomplishments, community involvement, and commitment to inspiring change.
Victoria Meadows ’15 is one of just 46 honorees from across the state of Maryland to receive the prestigious accolade this year. Award winners will be celebrated during a reception held at the Baltimore Museum of Art on Wednesday, August 21.

State Grant Helps School of Education Support College Enrollment Efforts at Three Local High Schools
NDMU's School of Education played a leading role in increasing awareness about the college application process at three area high schools during the spring semester.

Baltimore Collegetown Shuttle Resumes Service for Fall Semester on August 26
The Baltimore Collegetown Shuttle will resume full service for the fall semester on Monday, August 26 at 8:15 am. The shuttle goes to three schools - Johns Hopkins University (Homewood Campus), Notre Dame of Maryland University and Towson University. In addition to the three schools, it stops at Penn Station, Towson Town Center, Towson Place Shopping Center (Sundays), and the Shops at Kenilworth (Sundays).
Anyone with an NDMU ID (student, faculty, and staff) is eligible to utilize the shuttle's services for free, and riders may be accompanied by up to two guests.

School of Arts, Sciences and Business
Dr. Jennifer Kerr, the Dr. Mary Kay Shartle Galotto ’64 Endowed Chair in the Biological Sciences, published a journal article in a special edition of the journal Frontiers in Education focusing on Using Case Study and Narrative Pedagogy to Guide Students Through the Process of Science. The article, entitled “'R' U ready?: a case study using R to analyze changes in gene expression during evolution," uses a case study to introduce bioinformatics skills to undergraduates.
Dr. Meenu Vikram, an assistant professor in the Biology Department, was awarded an Elkins Fellowship for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning for the 2024-25 academic year through her role as an adjunct associate professor of natural sciences for University of Maryland Global Campus. The awards go to faculty whose research focuses on ways course design and instructional decisions can improve learning outcomes and advance the university system’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) goals.
School of Pharmacy
Several members of the School of Pharmacy traveled to Boston at the end of July for the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Annual Meeting. Dr. Sharon Park and Dr. Heather Folz served as speakers at the event, while Dr. Arindam Chatterjee, Dr. Jane Ho, Dr. Salahuddin Mohammed, and Richard Bugingo D'25 gave presentations on a variety of research topics. Bugingo became the first NDMU pharmacy student to present at the conference.

Dr. Rosy Joshi-Mukherjee, assistant professor in the School of Pharmacy, and rising fourth-year pharmacy students Hazel Gonzalez Vargas, Iris Lopez-Perez, Jahanvi Patel, and Tania Toussaint traveled recently to Chicago for a conference hosted by the American Heart Association. Their research poster, Doxorubicin-Induced hiPSC Hormetic Model, was presented at the AHA’s Basic Cardiovascular Sciences Scientific Sessions, which is one of the largest meetings globally dedicated to fundamental and translational research in cardiovascular science.
