The Loyola Notre Dame Library, along with the 17 libraries across the University System of Maryland and Affiliated Institutions (USMAI), will be implementing on May 23, 2024, a new integrated library system (ILS) which includes a new search tool. Throughout the spring, LNDL’s migration task force will be working collaboratively with USMAI colleagues and campus IT to replace the current system, which has been in place for over 20 years.
An integrated library system manages the basic functions of a library, such as checking library materials in and out, keeping track of orders and subscriptions, and providing the infrastructure that allows library users to search and access library materials. The migration to the new system modernizes Loyola Notre Dame Library’s current functionality, improves usability, and facilitates improved cooperation with other campus systems and academic institutions across the state.
The new search tool will be accessed on the Library’s homepage and will streamline search functions, provide access to local resources, and support scholarly research. Additional features will allow the Loyola and Notre Dame communities to easily manage Library loans, requests, and citations. Keep an eye out for a preview of the search interface in the weeks to come.
Updates will be provided as the project continues throughout the spring, especially information on any temporary service interruptions, as the new system is implemented. If you have any questions, please contact the library staff.
