Faculty from the School of Nursing traveled to Thailand this summer to establish a long-term partnership to promote collaborative learning and research between Notre Dame of Maryland University and the Praboromarajchanok Institute (PBRI), which includes 30 nursing colleges across the Southeast Asian nation. The partnership between NDMU and PBRI will promote scholarly collaboration, faculty exchanges, and other future initiatives between the two institutions.

Pharmacy Student Makes Global Impact Through Rare Internship Opportunity

A rare internship opportunity is providing one NDMU pharmacy student with invaluable experience working for an organization dedicated to improving the availability of high-quality healthcare across the world.
Funmi Olateru-Olagbegi D’26 was one of 20 students across the country, and the only pharmacy student, selected for a summer internship supporting the United States Pharmacopeia’s Promoting the Quality of Medicines Plus (PQM+) Program. The initiative, which is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, works to improve systems that assure the quality of essential medical products in low- and middle-income countries.

Art Therapy Celebrates Latest MA Graduates at Thesis Colloquium

Congratulations to the latest graduates of NDMU's art therapy master’s program! Members of the 2023 cohort were celebrated in Fourier Hall after presenting their research at last Saturday’s Thesis Colloquium.
The Master of Arts in Art Therapy at NDMU is the only master's art therapy program in Maryland that prepares graduates to become professional art therapists. The 2023 cohort becomes the fourth graduating class since the program's creation, with a total of 26 students earning their MA in Art Therapy during that span.

As School of Pharmacy Prepares for Alumni Reception, Inaugural Graduate Shares Path to Leadership Position at FDA

As part of Alumnae and Alumni Weekend 2023, NDMU’s School of Pharmacy will hold a special reception for all pharmacy graduates, especially its inaugural graduates celebrating their 10-year reunion, on Saturday, September 23 at 4:30 p.m. in the newly renovated Knott Science and Innovation Center. The reception will recognize the many accomplishments of the School of Pharmacy and its first graduating class.
Dr. Holly Thai D’13 is one of several graduates from that inaugural class planning to return to campus this fall. Dr. Thai is currently a Senior Regulatory Health Project Manager at the Division of Filing Review for the United States Food and Drug Administration, a leadership role that she began following several years as a clinical pharmacist.

NDMU Master’s Graduate Continues Career of Service as Director of Anne Arundel County’s Department of Public Works

Karen Henry M’02 has dedicated her professional life to public service. After working for over 30 years in a variety of positions for Anne Arundel County Government, her career reached a new peak last December when she was selected as acting director for the county’s Department of Public Works.
Henry was then named permanent director for the department in March. She oversees a staff of over 700 employees working in the Bureaus of Engineering, Highways, Utility Operations, Waste Management Services, and Watershed Protection and Restoration.

NDMU's Occupational Therapy Doctorate program recently held its first White Coat Ceremony in Marikle Chapel to celebrate the program's inaugural cohort. Congratulations to Dr. Melissa DiDonato D'23, who was recently appointed Chief Academic Officer for Baltimore County Public Schools! Dr. DiDonato previously served as executive director of school support and achievement, and prior to that she was the principal at Padonia International Elementary School. Dr. DiDonato recently earned her Ph.D. from NDMU in Instructional Leadership for Changing Populations.

Dr. Ghania Naeem, assistant professor in the Department of Clinical & Administrative Sciences, recently embarked on a week-long medical service trip to Peru. While there, she collaborated with students working towards a variety of healthcare degrees, including serving as a mentor for three pharmacy students. Dr. Naeem also managed the team’s medication inventory, using her clinical judgment to recommend best possible care options for local community members served during the trip.
