NDMU, Capitol Technology University Partner to Fast Track Students into High-demand Engineering Careers
NDMU and Capitol Technology University are partnering to increase the number of students entering high-demand engineering careers, with a fast-track option to earn two bachelor’s degrees in five years which will save students valuable time and money. NDMU President Marylou Yam and Capitol Tech President Bradford Sims participated in a ceremonial signing of the joint agreement in Knott Science and Innovation Center on Tuesday.
The new partnership between the two universities enables STEM students to earn their first degree in three years at Notre Dame (physics, mathematics, chemistry, or computer information systems) and a second degree in one of four engineering programs at Capitol Tech (astronautical and space engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics and robotics engineering, or software engineering).

NDMU Students Travel to West Virginia for Education Immersion Spring Break Trip

Eight NDMU students, along with Julia Campagna and Rudy Dehaney from the Office of Mission and Ministry, traveled to West Virginia over spring break for an educational immersion trip with the Appalachian Institute at Wheeling University!
While there, students learned about the Appalachian region, particularly the city of Wheeling, through conversations and time spent with community members, who shared their stories and wisdom. They learned about the work of social justice and the pursuit of human dignity through the context of Appalachia, and discovered that much of what they heard resonated with their own lived experiences in Baltimore.

School of Pharmacy

First-year School of Pharmacy student pharmacists collaborated with students from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health in a disaster preparedness simulation held on March 27. The purpose of this simulation exercise was to practice applying systems thinking and interprofessional collaborative practice skills while in a high-pressure, high-stakes situation.
At the start of the interprofessional simulation exercise, students were assigned to a hospital departmental team and informed that their city was experiencing a rapidly spreading zombie pandemic. Throughout the simulation, teams were provided with additional information that they needed to integrate into the emergency response. At the end of the simulation, students participated in a debrief of the learning experience.
