Dual-Degree Programs at NDMU

The following programs offer pathways to earning dual-degrees either entirely at NDMU, or through partnerships with other institutions:

Art Therapy

Time to Complete: 5 Years

Earn both a bachelor's and a master's degree in Art Therapy from NDMU. A master's degree is a requirement for becoming a professional art therapist, so this option can help you start your career sooner. NDMU currently offers the only graduate program for art therapy in Maryland.

Business/Leadership & Management

Time to Complete: 5 Years

Earn both a BA in Business and a MA in Leadership in Management from NDMU.

Maximize your time at NDMU learning both the foundational skills needed for a career in business with the principles of becoming an effective leader.

Communication

Time to Complete: 5 Years

Earn both a BA (Communication Arts or Digital Media Arts) and a MA in Contemporary Communication from NDMU.

Enhance your skillset before entering the workforce full time. Choose your foundation, Communication or Digital Media, and then take it to the next level with graduate level courses covering media, public relations, technology, and business. Our communication programs offer extensive options for selecting electives to craft a program that relates to your individual goals. 

Education/Teaching

Time to Complete: 5 Years

Earn both a bachelor's degree and a MA in Teaching from NDMU to fulfill state requirements to become a certified teacher.

Those interested in elementary education can complete a BA in Elementary Education/Liberal Studies during the first four years and the MA in Teaching in the final year. Those interested in teaching secondary education would first complete a bachelor's degree in an academic discipline (art, English, history, math, etc.) and would then finish the MA in Teaching in the final year.

Engineering

Time to Complete: 5-7 Years

Earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from NDMU and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from one of our premier engineering school partners. Partnerships include G.W.C. Whiting School of Engineering at The Johns Hopkins UniversityFu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science at Columbia University, and McKelvey School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis.

This dual-degree program provides a well-rounded education with a focus on critical thinking and versatile skills that will stand out to future employers.

Law

Time to Complete: 6 Years

Earn a Bachelor of Arts in any major from NDMU and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law.

This dual-degree program offers an accelerated path to become qualified to practice law.

Occupational Therapy

Time to Complete: 6 Years

Earn both a bachelor's degree in any major from Undergraduate Studies and an Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) degree from NDMU. 

During undergraduate study, complete courses for the selected major as well as OTD prerequisite courses as part of the bachelor's degree requirements. Qualified students may apply for admission to the OTD program upon completing the bachelor's degree.

This dual-degree program offers an accelerated path to become a professional occupational therapist.

Pharmacy

Time to Complete: 7 Years

Earn both a BA (Biology or Chemistry) and a PharmD degree from NDMU.

Develop the strong foundation in sciences, mathematics, social sciences, and humanities needed to be successful in a professional Doctor of Pharmacy program. Our accelerated program saves time and money by spending just three years on your undergraduate degree before progressing into the School of Pharmacy. Each year, we guarantee up to 15 interviews from the Undergraduate Studies at NDMU.

The 2+4 Program Provides Undergrad and Doctorate in Pharmacy in Six Years.

2+4 Program 

The 2+4 pharmacy degree track pathway provides NDMU undergraduate students an accelerated route to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree within a span of 6 years. This program expedites the academic journey and offers the advantage of saving two years of tuition while granting two degrees – a Liberal Arts degree with a focus on Pharmaceutical Science and a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree.  

The curriculum is designed based on the first two years of the Bachelor of Arts in Pharmaceutical Sciences program, serving as a model for students to complete their pharmacy prerequisites in two years. Additionally, it provides an alternative degree pathway for students who do not progress into the professional degree program.
