Student/Faculty/Staff Updates
School of Education

Jen Miller, an NDMU graduate and current PDS Site Coordinator for the Stemmers Run Middle/NDMU PDS partnership, was recently named Stemmers Run Teacher of the Year! Every year, Baltimore County Public Schools asks each of its schools to nominate one educator as the school’s Teacher of the Year.
“This year we selected a teacher who not only exemplifies excellence in the classroom, but who has also successfully taken on a major position shift and several leadership roles around the building," said Bryan Thanner, Miller's principal and a fellow NDMU graduate. "Jen previously served as a special educator at Stemmers Run, and she made the decision to switch to general education this year. We would expect that this transition would come with many challenges, but Jen has handled it like a true professional, building amazing relationships with her students, delivering great instruction, and providing excellent support for her students with IEPs."
Miller attributes her success as a teacher to the foundational education she received through Notre Dame’s SOE certification program. She received her certification in Special Education and Social Studies in 2015. NDMU currently partners with 14 public schools across five different local school systems in the Baltimore Metropolitan Area. Miller serves as a liaison between the school and NDMU in one of those PDS partnerships.
