With the launch of the hybrid accelerated, second-degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program, NDMU’s School of Nursing faculty and students enjoyed extensive media coverage, as hospitals in Maryland and around the nation struggled with a historic demand for nurses.

All four local Baltimore TV networks, plus the Baltimore Business Journal, ran stories about how NDMU is taking the lead to address the nursing shortage. Opened in September 2020, the hybrid ABSN Learning Site at Elkridge expanded the School of Nursing’s reach to attract students to the 15-month program.

At the Elkridge location, new students can enroll in the program three times per year and receive their nursing instruction through an online format, with in-person clinical skills training in an on-site state-of-the-art simulation lab. NDMU’s Baltimore campus ABSN enrolls new students once a year and provides in-person nursing instruction and clinical skills training in the campus simulation lab.

NDMU’s innovative ABSN program is filling a dire need in Maryland and beyond to graduate highly educated professional registered nurses to provide expert, compassionate care.
