Going Beyond: Vision 2025 is guiding the University to even greater heights.

In summer 2019, a strategic planning task force, led by President Marylou Yam with input from the Board of Trustees, began the process to devise a five-year strategic plan to advance NDMU forward. The result is Going Beyond: Vision 2025, a robust plan that advances the University’s mission to educate leaders to transform the world.

Guided by NDMU’s new vision, the University identified five overarching strategic goals and three themes: diversity and inclusion; service and social responsibility; and a local to global perspective. The vision, goals, and themes are grounded in NDMU’s mission and SSND charism. The plan’s goals are:

  • Advance inclusive transformational education and student engagement and success
  • Drive enrollment, philanthropic, and financial growth
  • Enhance NDMU’s leadership position and visibility in Baltimore, Maryland, and beyond
  • Ensure an institutional culture of leadership, innovation, and excellence in administrative services
  • Enrich SSND charism and life-long community engagement

The goals reflect NDMU’s bold vision for the future, as well as a focus on student success, institutional growth, leadership position, and innovation. Metrics used to measure the plan focus on student outcomes, as well as enrollment, philanthropic, and fiscal growth.

“We are building on the legacy of our foundresses to promote the advancement of women through education and position the university as a leader in Baltimore, Maryland, and beyond,” said President Yam. “Going Beyond: Vision 2025 provides the framework for how the University will continue to fulfill our mission to ensure our students and graduates are prepared to transform the world.”

A little more than a year after it launched, the plan is already bearing fruit. The University has charted a path of success through the pandemic, achieving top national rankings for academic excellence, historic high fundraising, and innovation in new curricular and co-curricular programs.
