Bio
I joined the Notre Dame faculty in August 2009. Since that time, I have taught classes to all levels of learners, from undergraduate students through doctoral candidates. Currently, I primarily teach educational research methods, specializing in Qualitative Research. I also serve as a Dissertation chair as well as a Qualitative and Mixed Methods Methodologist on various dissertation committees.
In addition to teaching and guiding doctoral students, I am the edTPA Coordinator for the School of Education, a position I co-chair with Dr. Lisa Pallett. edTPA is a performance assessment designed to assess teacher candidates’ readiness to teach upon graduation. This portfolio assessment is a semester long capstone project completed during the internship semester (student teaching). In addition, I have served as the President and then Secretary of the MD edTPA Collaborative, a statewide resource and advocacy collaborative of universities involved in edTPA.
I am the co-Chair of the SoE Assessment and Accreditation Committee along with my colleague Dr. Rachel Durham, and serve as a member of the Chalk and Wire Technology committee. I also serve on two university committees – the Promotion and Tenure committee and the Instructional and Educational Technology committee. Lastly, I am the SOE representative to the University Assessment Committee.
I recently became the leader of the Flourishing Collaborative at NDMU where I am engaged with faculty and staff on a monthly basis to promote flourishing and wellness on campus.
