BALTIMORE – Notre Dame of Maryland University is offering two new camps in art and cooking in summer 2022, in addition to its traditional slate of youth programming.
Registration for all six camps is now available, with more information on each listed below. Spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
NEW: Women’s Leadership & Creative Change Art Camp
June 20 – July 1
Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Individual work with coaching available on Fridays
This two-week camp is designed for high school women interested in art. Combining art and media with principles of strong leadership, the camp will look at how art can be a powerful tool to address social justice issues in communities. Attendees will work with faculty experts in their professional field as they explore topics in Studio Art, Digital Art, Leadership, Art Therapy and Film. Rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors also have the option to participate in the camp as a dual-enrollment course, earning college credit for the experience.
NEW: Cooking with SAGE Summer Camp
August 15-19
Morning Session (Ages 5-8): Camp from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Afternoon Session (Ages 9-12): Lunch from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m., Camp from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Cooking with SAGE is a fun opportunity for campers to come together and learn new recipes and cooking techniques with a SAGE chef! Each day, campers will learn about the cooking topic and recipe or how and why each step in the recipe is important. At the end of the week, recipes will be assembled for a final product and campers will have the opportunity to share their creations and explain why they chose their favorite ingredients. Daily themes include pizza making, cake decorating, sushi making, dumplings and truffles.
A Child’s Place Summer Camp
Five two-week sessions beginning June 13, June 27, July 11, July 25 and August 8
Ages 2 to 6
Camp Day: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Before Camp Care: 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. (no additional cost)
After Camp Care: 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. (no additional cost)
Staffed by experienced preschool teachers, A Child’s Place offers an extended summer of fun-filled theme-oriented camp sessions to excite young campers. Sessions offer an entertaining and age-appropriate educational and play-based experience for children ages 2 to 6 (those entering first grade in the fall). The camps will provide opportunities to stimulate curiosity, creativity, and imagination through water play, daily indoor and outdoor play, STEAM activities, cooking, play-based learning, daily exploration and investigation, and more.
Camp Notre Dame
Four two-week sessions beginning June 20, July 5, July 18 and August 1
Ages 5 to 11
Drop-off: 8:00 a.m.
Camp Activities: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Pick-Up: Between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m.
With rotating sessions throughout the day, campers will have the opportunity to participate in explorations, arts & crafts, sports & games and a mix of instructional and recreational swimming. Camp Notre Dame is staffed by experienced leaders who are committed to providing children with a meaningful and rewarding summer experience. Each group is supervised by a Senior Leader, Junior Leader, and, for the younger and/or larger groups, a Leader-in-Training. Children are placed into groups of 9 to 13 campers of the same general age and grade in school.
Pharmacy Summer Camp
June 20-24
9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Pharmacy Camp is designed to help high school students entering grades 9-12 discover exciting topics and career paths in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences from the School of Pharmacy faculty at NDMU. Campers will explore precision medicine and the pharmacists role in research and patient care, learn about medication therapy management, and discover which pharmacy career best fits them. They will also learn where pharmacists work (hospitals, clinics, community pharmacies, research facilities and more) and have the opportunity to meet current pharmacy students.
STEM Camp
Waters of the World: July 18-22
8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Notre Dame’s STEM summer camp is designed to help children entering grades K-8 expand their budding interests in science, technology, engineering and math. Waters of the World is an exciting and fascinating topic for students of all ages. The many resources and business partners focused on water conservation and preservation available to us in Maryland make this topic very relevant and accessible. Each day, campers will be introduced to a new STEM concept as they participate in hands-on learning with instructors from the NDMU STEM Leadership program. But it’s not all science—there is also time for swimming, team building, crafts and lunch!
