Notre Dame of Maryland University will present WOW - Women of the World - Baltimore, October 7-8, 2016. This event, which has been held in locations around the world, will feature guest speakers, diverse panelists, talks, workshops, and performances that celebrate the achievements of women and girls and address the challenges that remain.
Scheduled speakers and panelists to date include author and former New York Times columnist, Anna Quindlen; author and New York Times columnist, Gail Collins; and Emmy-winning composer of The Galapagos Affair, Searching for Susan Sontag, Hidden World of Girls, Laura Karpman.
Planning is underway for additional events that will engage Notre Dame of Maryland University students, area secondary school students, local organizations, and the public about the progress women have made and the challenges that still remain. The festival will also include Speed Mentorings sessions, a market and café, and exhibitions.
WOW was launched in 2011 by Jude Kelly CBE, artistic director of Southbank Centre in London, to mark the centennial of International Women’s Day. The success of the inaugural event created demand that has led to WOW festivals across the world, with festivals taking place in over 15 cities across five continents.
