BALTIMORE – Three Gators scored in double figures, led by a game-high 24 points from Kori People ’24, as Notre Dame of Maryland University’s women’s basketball program defeated Clarks Summit by an 83-57 final on Saturday to earn the Colonial States Athletic Conference championship.

The Gators (23-4) advance to the NCAA Division III tournament for a second time in program history. They will learn their opponent following an online selection show on Monday afternoon, with first round tournament games scheduled to take place on Friday, March 3.

Saturday’s victory continues a historic year for NDMU, which entered the CSAC tournament as the No. 1 seed after finishing with a 17-1 record against conference opponents during regular season play. The Gators have set new program records for overall and conference victories.

Ayana Brim ’23 added 19 points in the win, while graduate student Daija Fitchett ’22 had 17 rebounds, Alexis Durham ’25 handed out 10 assists and Alexis Jones ’26 contributed 13 points. Notre Dame led by as many as 29 points while taking down the defending CSAC champions.

NDMU has posted a 54-23 record overall in three seasons under the guidance of head coach Kalin Wynn. This is the first conference title for the Gators since 2007, when they advanced to their first Division III tournament after emerging as champions in the final year of the Atlantic Women’s Colleges Conference.

This is the fifth CSAC title for NDMU’s athletics department in the last five years. NDMU’s volleyball (2018, 2019) and women’s lacrosse (2019, 2021) programs have both won a pair of championships during that span.
