Dr. Paul Weldon was a distinguished faculty member in the Biology department for over 25 years. Notre Dame’s 2007 Mullan Distinguished Teacher Award recipient was known as a dynamic teacher. Dr. Weldon’s classes will be remembered for their trips to the American Museum of Natural History in New York City and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington DC. His extensive work in the field included the publication of over 125 research papers through the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute. Dr. Weldon will be greatly missed by the NDMU community, which will gather on Thursday for a celebration of his life.
Students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends will have an opportunity to share their memories of Paul and decorate stones in his honor. The stones will be displayed around a tree planted on campus later this spring by the TriBeta Biological Honor Society.
