Connecting to others is a good job search strategy. It’s also a natural expression of your curiosity. Reach out to people. Here are some good suggestions.

  • Send a message to anyone on Handshake to learn about their internship or job at the companies you are targeting.
  • Connect to NDMU alumnae/alumni association and its corresponding group on LinkedIn. Join the Notre Dame of Maryland University Alumnae and Alumni Community Group.
  • The 2-Hour Job Search: Learn to efficiently make contact with working professionals you want to meet. This resource teaches you how to systematically create correspondence and follow-up appropriately.
  • Join professional associations while you are a student for a lower membership rate. Attend events and locate the association’s corresponding LinkedIn Group page. Here are two directories. For more ideas, ask your professors and look through the LinkedIn profiles of the working professionals you are aspiring to become. They often list their memberships.”
