Faye joined the ELI at NDMU in 2018 with wealth of international education experience. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, she began her teaching career as head teacher for an Alternative Education High School program in northern Illinois followed by six years as a Learning Support teacher in a Middle School program working with students who had language learning difficulties.
For the next eight years, Faye lived and worked in Lusaka, Zambia and Cairo, Egypt as a Learning Support teacher working closely with the ELI program in both these international schools as a joint effort with faculty to address the language learning needs of native speakers of English as well as the international students enrolled in these schools. While working in Cairo, Faye pursued an M.S. in Education at Trenton State College while completing her ESL certification.
Living and working in an international setting inspired Faye to continue to her career in language learning and language acquisition when she returned to the States. She served as an inclusion facilitator at the high school level and taught English to adults at Kishwaukee Community College and in the Hays Language Institute at Fort Hays State University.
In 1999, Faye worked as a consultant at the Mallya Aditi International School in Bangalore, India, where she assisted the faculty in establishing an ESL program and a Learning Support program for their K-12 students.
In 2003, Faye completed a BFA in Studio Art in Ceramics. She moved to Baltimore and joined the Refugee Assistance Program’s English Language program and the ELI program at BCCC.
In 2010, Faye joined the faculty at Stonehill International School in Bangalore, India as Program Coordinator for the ELI and Learning Support Programs.
Faye returned to Baltimore in 2015. Faye enjoys creating ceramic sculpture, painting, reading, hiking, and traveling.
