Eastern Shore Cohorts
Starting in Fall 2017, the following Special Education and ESOL certification programs will be offered at the Eastern Shore Higher Education Center at the Chesapeake College Wye Mills campus.
Note: Special education certification is available for grades 1-8 or 6-adult.
Accelerated Certification in Teaching (ACT)
The ACT program is designed for anyone with a bachelor’s degree (any field) who would like to become certified to teach.
Our program includes an education course with a one semester teaching internship. The courses you take for certification can later be used toward completing your master’s degree.
MA in Leadership in Teaching
The MA in Leadership in Teaching program allows current teachers with initial teaching certification to increase marketability by adding Special Education and/or ESOL certification in addition to earning a master's degree.
Certification in Special Education and ESOL
Current teachers with initial teaching certification can add Special Education and/or ESOL certification to increase potential career opportunities.
NDMU trains more new teachers than any other private school in the state, is a top producer of “Teachers of the Year” and is the second-largest provider of teachers for all public or private schools.
Our programs are approved by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) for teaching certification and are nationally-accredited through NCATE.
