“Caminante, no hay puentes, se hace puentes al andar. (Voyager, there are no bridges, one builds them as one walks.) ” ― Gloria Anzaldúa

Mission Integration

As we strive to live out our School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) charism, we are reminded that we belong to each other. From Doyle lawn to the foothhills of Appalachia, our students continue to lead the way as we become a more integrated community of praxis.

Radical Hospitality

We are intentional in our welcoming of new members to our NDMU community, beginning each year with Wacky Waffles during New Student Orientation.

Justice and Peace

We are deeply engaged in the work of social justice and peace, particularly as it is connected to our understanding of community. We are engaged in our local community in mutual and equitable relationships that continue the work of justice.

Much of our work centers on the five focus areas identified by the SSNDs:

  • Addressing Climate Change
  • Promoting Justice for Immigrants
  • Ending Trafficking
  • Dismantling Racism
  • Working toward Sustainable Development in Haiti
