to
LND Library - Ridley Auditorium

Emily Martin is an acclaimed artist and educator, weaving personal narrative, timeless literary works, and present-day themes with humor and insight into more than fifty artists' books. Her limited edition works often incorporate innovative movable and sculptural paper engineering techniques and are included in public and private collections throughout the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; the Tate Britain, London; the Library of Congress; and the Loyola Notre Dame Library.

Martin joined the faculty of the University of Iowa Center for the Book in 1998, where she teaches artist's books, paper engineering, and traditional bookbinding classes. She will discuss her evolution as an artist and the inspiration and process behind the creation of her unforgettable works. A reception will follow in the library gallery, where we will also celebrate the opening of the exhibit Creativity Unbound: The Book as Art.
