Initial Enrollment

If you plan to use your VA education benefits to attend Notre Dame, follow these steps to enroll:

  1. First, apply to the University.
  2. Once accepted, complete an Application for Program of Education Form (VA form 22-1990). (May also see the VA representative in the Business office)
  3. Return the completed application to the Business office.

You must be registered for classes before enrollment certification can be sent to the Buffalo Regional Processing Center.

Re-Enrollment

After initial enrollment, you must notify the VA representative in the registrar's office of your intent to continue using VA education benefits each semester by completing the Declaration of Intent Form.

Failure to notify the certifying official of your intent for the semester may result in nonpayment or a change in the amount of monthly payments.

Registration, Program, or Objective Change

If there are any changes to your registration, program, or objective:

  1. You must contact the certifying official immediately.
  2. The VA representative must complete a new Request of Change of Program (VA form 22-1995) and submit it to the VA.

Process Time

Once the enrollment certification has been made to the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) in Buffalo, N.Y., processing takes anywhere from 6 to 10 weeks before payment authorization is made.
