NDMU Pharmacy Camp Introduces Students to Career in Pharmacy
High school students from across the Baltimore metropolitan area have an excellent opportunity this summer to learn first-hand about the opportunities offered by a career in Pharmacy through Notre Dame of Maryland University’s Pharmacy Camp.
Pharmacy Camp 2018

This summer, high school students have an excellent opportunity to learn first-hand about the opportunities offered by a career in Pharmacy through Notre Dame of Maryland University’s (NDMU) Pharmacy Camp.

NDMU’s School of Pharmacy, will offer a summer camp that will focus on how pharmacists care for people and the many available career opportunities. The camp is for students in grades 9 to 12 and the goal is to interest them and further their understanding in this branch of science.

“Careers in health care are in great demand and Pharmacy is not excluded. Daily, well-trained and educated individuals are sought to work with the community at large to support health care needs,” said Dr. Anne Lin, Dean of the Notre Dame of Maryland University School of Pharmacy.

Dr. Lin says this is a great opportunity for growth, not only for this age-group of students. “We are thrilled to offer our Pharmacy Camp to high school students and we want to build a channel for our future health professionals. We want to inspire, especially Latino bilingual students to consider a career in Pharmacy. We want to transform the societal health and it starts with these students.”

The experience is one of immersive learning where the selected participants will experience hands-on activities, will visit pharmacies and learn directly from professors at NDMU who also serve as pharmacists.

NDMU sees this Pharmacy Camp as an investment in the future of health care, since at the national level, there has been a decrease in the number of university students pursuing a graduate degree in that specialty.

Limited space is available for the Pharmacy Camp, so interested students are invited to apply for admission as soon as possible. The deadline is May 31, 2019.

The summer camp will be held at NDMU’s School of Pharmacy in Baltimore, Maryland, from June 24-28. The schedule is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and includes lunch.
