Become a Compassionate Healthcare Leader – Pursue Your FNP, A-GNP or MSN in Nursing Education

Family Nurse Practitioner

The NDMU Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program prepares advanced practice nurses to manage care for individuals of all ages in primary care settings. With caring at the center of nursing practice, you will learn to diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions with consideration for the whole person. Beyond managing disease, our program emphasizes wellness coaching to reduce the risk for chronic diseases linked to lifestyle choices.

Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

The NDMU Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (A-GNP) program prepares advanced practice nurses to manage care for adolescents through older adults in primary care settings. With caring at the center of nursing practice, you will learn to promote health, prevent illness, and manage acute and chronic conditions with consideration for the whole person. Beyond managing disease, our program emphasizes wellness coaching to reduce the risk for chronic diseases linked to lifestyle choices.

Master of Science in Nursing

Grounded in Caring Science, the Master of Science in Nursing at NDMU prepares nurses with a BSN to advance their career as a nurse leader in academia and healthcare. Our accelerated program offers the consistency you need to complete your degree quickly and effectively while balancing school, work, and family responsibilities. From day one, our cohort model creates a community of learners who progress through the program together from start to finish, providing a network of support.

Graduates of this program will be prepared as nurse educators and nurse managers/administrators to excel in nursing leadership.

The curriculum offers direction for teaching and learning with a commitment to multiple ways of knowing, supporting creativity, discovery, critical inquiry, and application of relevant practice, administrative, and curriculum theories and nursing models in diverse settings. The MSN program’s two concentrations, Leadership in Nursing Administration and Leadership in Nursing Education share common core courses and includes role-specific courses.

Our part-time format is designed for nurses in practice to complete the program within 27 months.

Courses

  • Both the NDMU FNP & A-GNP programs offer an in-person learning environment- usually 2 days a week, and only in the evenings. Studies offer a range of interactive coursework, simulations, and extensive clinical practice experiences.

Class Schedules

  • FNP: Each semester, you will take 2 courses (5-8 credits), which meet twice a week.

  • A-GNP: Each semester, you will take 2 courses (5-8 credits), which meet twice a week.

ANEW Grant

Notre Dame of Maryland University offers tuition support through the ANEW Program Grant for students pursuing the Family Nurse Practitioner and Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner programs who are interested in working with vulnerable and underserved populations. Funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the tuition support program helps students to manage financial stressors during the time-intensive clinical practicum portion of the program. Award recipients receive tuition support up to the $10,000 and a living stipend of $5,000 during the final 3 semesters of the program. Interested students may apply for the ANEW Grant through NDMU after being accepted to one of the population-focused Nurse Practitioner programs.

Program Features

Small Class Sizes

Our small class sizes offer a personalized learning environment and stronger connections with faculty and classmates.

Experienced Faculty

NDMU professors have current, relevant knowledge on the latest practices and technologies, and care about you not only as students, but as people, too. All of the FNP & AGNP professors at NDMU are practicing nurse practitioners.

Caring Science

The Caring Science Theory which NDMU employs is built on an all-inclusive, authentic approach to providing healthcare that incorporates all facets of life: emotional, spiritual, physical.

Clinical Practicum

We have established partnerships with large healthcare facilities in the Baltimore area, which provide our students with rich, primary care practicum experience. These increase in complexity throughout the program.
