2008 Season Outlook
College of Notre Dame's tennis team will look to be a strong competitor in the Colonial States Athletic Conference in 2008. The Gators completed last season with a 10-7 overall record. The team finished with a 6-4 mark in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (now the Colonial States Athletic Conference), good for fifth place and just one win shy of reaching the conference postseason tournament.
Notre Dame will enter 2008 having lost only one senior from last year's squad to graduation. That senior and now head coach of the team, Meryl Krich, set new program records for singles and doubles wind during her Notre Dame career. Looking forward to making up for Krich's loss on the court are senior Allison Najewicz and junior Miku White.
Najewicz was the only Gator to receive All-Conference honors in 2007-08, earning Second Team All-Conference recognition at No. 3 singles. White competed against the opposing squad's toughest competition having competed at No. 1 singles and doubles. Along with Krich, White tied a program record for doubles victories in a career with the same partner with 22 over the past two seasons.
Also returning to the Gator lineup is senior Roxana Beyranvand, a dual-sport student-athlete who also competes on the Gator soccer team during the fall season. She teamed with Najewicz to provide a solid No. 2 doubles tandem last season.
Juniors Amanda Hollister and Paige Seibert along with sophomore Madeleine Foster will also be looked upon to provide victories in key singles and doubles spots. Hollister, Seibert and Foster saw the majority of work from the No. 5 and No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles spots in 2007-08.
Notre Dame has the potential and will look to make another competitive run for the conference postseason tournament in 2008.
