2007 - 2008 Season Outlook
The Gators return for 2007 - 2008 with eight newcomers to the program, complementing the four returning letter winners.
Senior Melissa Flora and junior Ashleigh Johnson were key contributors to Notre Dame's run to the NCAA Championships in 2006-2007. Flora, a mid-year transfer, came off the bench in the final 14 games and solidified Notre Dame's depth, playing multiple positions. Johnson made the transition from guard to forward during 2006-2007 and developed into one of the team's best post defenders.
Sophomore Whitley Noel came off the bench last year to help spark the Gators’ defense and will be looked upon to add intensity at both ends of the floor this season.
This season the team will be bolstered by several new faces, including five from the junior college ranks. Junior Kendra Baldwin, an NJCAA All-Region performer at CBCC-Dundalk, averaged over 17 points and 11 rebounds per game in two seasons. Her versatility and ability to play in the post and handle the ball will be critical at both ends of the floor.
The new sophomore class will look to make an immediate impact on the court. Kierra Scott's ability to drive and create offensively will support the Gators. Angela Turner provides a much-needed post presence with height and defensive ability. Heather Krolicki will stretch opposing defenses with her long-range shooting abilities, while Adorrah Smith will add additional muscle on the boards along with the ability to step out and knock down the outside jumper.
Freshman Brianna Grap, Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School's all-time leading scorer, brings ball-handling and scoring potential. Fellow freshmen Sasha Matthew, Ebony Rivers and India Scott add depth at both ends of the court for the Gators.
Senior Faith Wassink will return to the team in January after a semester studying abroad. In addition to her strong leadership, she is the team's top returning scorer after averaging 5.7 points per game as a junior. She has played in every game but one since coming to the College and has been a top performer, providing long-range shooting and intensity at both ends of the court.
