In 2017, the Alumnae and Alumni Community established the Alumnae and Alumni Engagement Award. The award is presented to a graduate celebrating a milestone Reunion year who has achieved long-standing and consistent support for Notre Dame of Maryland University. Support is measured through the sharing of time, talent, and/or resources.
2017 Award Winner
Amanda Idstein '97
Outside of Notre Dame, Amanda is a laboratory group leader at Fisher BioServices where she manages chemical and lab operations for chemical shipments. In her spare time, Amanda demonstrates the values of service, engagement, and education in roles as a Girl Scout Leader, volunteer for the American Red Cross, and member and coach at the Howard County Striders, a group dedicated to promoting lifetime fitness through running.
At Notre Dame, Amanda is a marathon volunteer. She has actively participated in over 80 NDMU events since her graduation. This incredible number includes every single Reunion weekend for the past 20 years. Amanda's deep love and commitment to Notre Dame is a family affair; as is our Reunion program. Amanda's husband, Kevin, is a familiar face at Notre Dame Reunions and has attended almost as many events.
Amanda has recently concluded her tenure on the Alumnae and Alumni Council, has given her time to three Reunion Committees (2007, 2012, 2017), has served on the Networking Committee, Alumnae Admissions Network and more. To cap it off, Amanda is one of the youngest members of the Montrose Society, the legacy giving society.
