College of Notre Dame of Maryland unveils two new programs for students entering in fall 2008: Renaissance Professional Scholars and Transformational Leaders.
The Renaissance Professional Scholars program allows students to strengthen their major program of study while the Transformational Leaders program prepares students for an innovative and cutting-edge career.
Renaissance Professional Scholars
The Renaissance Professional (RP) Scholars program allows students to combine advanced courses with career-related experiences to expand their major program of study and connect to experiential learning options that enhance their career potential.
With the help of the RP Scholars director, students will design a program of study by connecting advanced courses in a second area of study (minimum of 9 credits) and career-related practical experiences (study abroad, internships, practica, etc.) to create a program unique to each student. Think of it as cross-training for your brain!
The academic possibilities are yours to make:
- political science with communication arts to become a public policy advocate
- history with information systems to prepare for a career as an archivist
- English with digital media arts to become an editor of an online publication
- and many more!
RP Scholars should have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or an SAT score (or ACT equivalent) above 1000 (combined score on critical reasoning and math only).
Transformational Leaders
The Transformational Leaders (TL) program is built from Notre Dame’s central mission of “educating women to become leaders that will transform the world.” In this program, students gain the knowledge and experience that empowers them to become leaders who can make change happen.
Transformational Leaders complete the certificate in Leadership and Social Change (a 16-credit program). They work directly with the TL director to engage in an international or professional experience and complete a capstone course (in the certificate program or their major program of study) that integrates the academic and experiential components of the program.
All Notre Dame students are eligible to participate in the Transformational Leaders program.
Interviews for both programs are held in March and April and can be scheduled through the office of admissions at 410-532-5330 or 800-435-0200.
